Mauro's brace leads Real Sao Paulo past SF Celtic Reserves

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- Two goals from forward Mauro Pinheiro were enough for Real Sao Paulo F.C to get an important win against SF Celtic Reserves and keep the team in the top of the 2010 SFSFL First Division table. Despite of the terrible rainy weather and the controversial calls by the unexperienced main referee, Real battled back to earn a 2-1 victory at last Sunday morning at the Polo Fields #1.

Real Sao Paulo drew first blood off the foot of forward Mauro Pinheiro, who scored twenty five minutes into the match after receiving an accurate assist by Fabio Marques and outrunning three Celtic's defenders on the left flank. The first shot was intercepted by the defender, but the second one after the rebound hit the top far corner of the goalkeeper. Real 1-0.

SF Celtic Reserves responded in the 65th minute off an offside deflection from Celtic's forward. The shot came from outside of the box and was going out of bounds when Celtic's forward, inside the small box, deflected it towards the net. Real 1-1.

Mauro scored the winner in the 75th minute off a feed from Leandro. The shot was perfectly targeted to the far corner again and the goalkeeper even touched the ball before it fell inside the net. The tricolores were content to drop into a defensive shell for the remainder of the match, absorbing pressure, coping with referee's mistakes and holding on to the ball at every opportunity.

SF Celtic Reserves had multiple opportunities to even the score in stoppage time, but Real's goalkeeper Marc Cirilo managed to save them all.

Real Sao Paulo plays host to the South City FC team next Sunday at 9 AM at Polo Fields #1. South City FC has been promoted from the second division and is eager to get their second win of the season and prevent the tricolores from consolidating their top 3 position in the league, but coach Fabio is confident on another win "We know their play style and our team chemistry is improving every game".
