Real rises to the occasion, gets another shutout and takes the league lead

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- Early on in the 2010 season, Real Sao Paulo have had several challenges, from playing in terrible fields to some injuries to incorporating new players into the starting lineup. But Sundays’s challenge was unique as Real had to face AC Milan on the Polo Fields #2 for the lead of the league. Real continued their torrid pace with a crushing 5-0 win over the AC Milan.

From the start, the tricolores were the aggressors. In the 4th minute, Real Sao Paulo started pressing. Throw-in for AC Milan and Cris recovered it. He passed it to Amine who gave it first time to Leandro. He then laid the ball to Breno with a sutile head touch. Breno was going inside the box but got hit from behind. The referee did not call the foul and Humberto recovered the ball. He tried a nice through ball to Amine opened in the right flank. Amine set the ball and scored a great goal, but the linesman called offside. The goalkeeper then sent the ball long and Amine recovered it. After a great passing combination in the defense, the ball ended up again with Breno who got terribly fouled from behind. The referee called it this time. Truta tried the free kick, but the ball went over the bar.

In the 12th minute, throw-in for AC Milan. Jeff recovered and sent it to Truta who brought it down and passed it to Humberto. He gave it back to Jeff and received it back again. He then opened with Truta again in the left side. Truta entered the box and laid it back to Humberto in the top of the box. Humberto sent a low cross first time to Mauro who had the perfect opportunity to score, but shot right on the goalkeeper. Amine tried to score off the rebound, but the shot went over the bar. Real kept pressing! Four minutes later, AC Milan defense player sent a long ball towards the attack. The ball bounced and the forward was entering the box with it, but Fabinho covered perfectly and sent it out of bounds.

In the 22nd minute, throw-in for Real. Mauro sent it to Amine who passed in the middle to Humberto. He set it up and tried a shot from 40 yards out, but the ball went over the bar. Real was wasting too many opportunities and coach Fabio started to get worried and decided to make some changes. Two minutes later, AC Milan goalkeeper sent a long ball to the attack field and Kenni recovered it and played with Amine. He sent a perfect pass to David who gave it first time to Mauro. He waited for the first bounce and shot, but the goalkeeper made his second save. He then sent a long ball again and Amine brought it down and sent a through ball back to Mauro in the right side. He crossed it all the way to the other side and Truta laid it to Marcos David in the top of the box. The shot went over the bar again.

In the 25th minute, free kick for AC Milan. Cris recovered and passed it to Marcos David. He gave it to Breno who passed a perfect through ball to Mauro. He entered the box and as the goalkeeper came out of the goal, he shot a powerful, crossed torpedo. Real 1-0.

Two minutes later, Fabinho started the play with Jeff. He sent it to Truta who took off and opened the ball with Marcos David in the left side. He passed it back to Truta who crossed inside the box. Breno and Mauro could not hit it correctly and it ended up with Amine who tried a first time shot, but the ball went over the bar. In the 30th minute, throw-in for Real. Ricardo sent it to Amine who protected it and gave it back with Matt. He opened with Jeff who played with Truta and got it back. He then sent it to Marcos David who gave a fancy back heel to Truta. He then laid it back to Fabio who sent a perfect cross to Amine alone by himself in the opposite side, but the referee called offside.

In the 33rd minute, Ricardo recovered the ball and gave it to Matt. He sent it forward to Fabio but it was a little too far. The goalkeeper sent a long shot ahead and Jeff recovered. Truta received it and passed in the center to Rodrigo. He had time to dribble in the top of the box and sent a crossed, low shot impossible for the goalkeeper. Real 2-0.

In the 35th minute, Marc started the play with Jeff. He carried passed the midfield and sent a through ball to Marcos David. He lost the ball cleared by the defender, but Jeff recovered it again. He laid it with Truta in the top of the arc who tried the shot, but the goalkeeper managed to save it. One minute later, throw-in for Real. Jeff sent the ball to Fabio. He brought it down, looked up and found Marcos David in the center. He passed him the ball and he, in turn, opened with Amine. The shot was right on target in the bottom, left corner, but the goalkeeper saved it again.

In the 39th minute, Marc started the play with Ricardo who gave it to Rodrigo. He sent a switch cross to Fabio in the other side. He brought it down and played with Truta. He carried inside teh box and passed it back to Fabio. He tried to cross onto Breno's chest, but the referee called offside. One minute later, free kick for Real. Ricardo kicked it quickly to Rodrigo who sent a long through ball to Breno. He splitted it with the goalkeeper and Truta got the rebound and scored Real's third goal.

Real had time to score one more before the end of the first half. Ricardo recovered the ball and dribbled the forward. He then passed it to Amine, got it back and gave it again to Amine. He then opened with Marcos David who passed back to Amine. He lost the ball but recovered again and passed it back with Rodrigo. He then opened with Truta who dribbled two players and laid it to Fabio in the top left corner of the box. The first time shot was a torpedo in the top, right corner. Beautiful goal. Real 4-0.

After halftime, in the 50th minute, Marc came out of the goal and caught the ball. He played with Jeff in the left side. Jeff sent the pass to Fabio in the left flank. He dribbled the midfielder and gave it to Truta. Instead of passing back, he decided to take the shot, but missed the target. One minute later, Mauro recovered the ball in the attack and passed it back to Rodrigo. He sent a through ball to Truta who dribbled two players with the first touch and entered the box. Fabio was by himself, alone in the other side, but he tried to shot again and missed the target badly this time.

In the 54th minute, throw-in for AC Milan. Fabinho recovered it and started the play with Truta. He triangled perfectly with Humberto and Jeff before getting the ball back. He then opened with Fabio in the left side. He took his time and sent a perfect switch ball to Marcos David in the right side. The first time shot went wide in the left side of the goal. Three minutes later, throw-in for AC Milan. Truta recovered and dribbled with an elastic play. After a great combination, Marcos David lost the ball, but Matt was able to control the counter attack and started the play with Fabinho. He sent it to Ricardo in the right side who gave it to Rodrigo. He opened with Mauro, got back and played with Marcos David who let the ball pass to Fabio. He stopped it, set it up in the top of the arc and cracked a strong shot which deflected in the defender and almost fooled the goalkeeper, but went out inches of the post. Corner kick for real.

In the 59th minute, free kick for Real. Fabinho played with Jeff who sent the ball to Fabio. He chipped it over two defenders and left Truta ahead with just one defender. He asked for it, but Truta decided to take his 8th shot of the game and, again, missed it wide. In the 65th minute, great play by Amine in the right side. He took it all the way to the end line and crossed it to Mauro in the first post. He just deviated the ball from the goalkeeper and scored the fifth goal for Real, his second in the game. Real 5-0.

In the 74th minute, goal kick for AC Milan. Jeff recovered and played with Matt who opened with Kenni. He gave it to Amine in the center midfield. Amine quickly found Fabio by himself in the left side of the box. Fabio received the through ball, dribbled the first defender and, as he laid the ball to Cris, the defender fouled him in the top of the box. Fabinho tried the free kick, but the ball went over the bar in the top, near corner. Four minutes later, Kenni recovered the ball and sent a through ball to Breno. He passed first time to Truta entering the box. Truta dribbled a couple of players and shot, but it was too weak and the goalkeeper managed to reach it and catch it.

In the 84th minute, AC Milan goalkeeper saved the shot and tried to send a long ball. Cris intercepted and tried a 50 yards shot, but the goalkeeper saved it again. Two minutes later, Fabinho tackled the ball perfectly and saved a great opportunity for AC Milan. Humberto got the ball and started the counter-attack with Fabio. He sent it to Truta who took it all the way inside the box and laid it back to Fabio. He pretended he was going to shoot and laid it to the right for Humberto who was coming from behind. The shot went out inches off the near post.

Before the end of the game, Real had another great opportunity to score one more goal, but Breno decided not to pass it to Fabio completely opened inside the box and instead tried to dribbled all the defenders, off course loosing the ball.

With the second shutout in the season, Real Sao Paulo improved their record to 5-0-1. This match also marked the first time Real notched the first position in the league. Real will continue their toughest month of the season on Sunday's last game in the Polo Fields when the club visits SF Vikings for the first time at 10:45AM. As if Real needed more on their side, though, Sunday’s result has given them even more confidence than they’d enjoyed through six games.
