Fabio scores two and Real shows SF Vikings no mercy on third shoutout so far

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- It would be easy to write off Real’s 4-0 victory against SF Vikings on Sunday at the Polo Fields #6, but it would be a mistake to do so. One could say that the Vikings were an easy opponent at the last positions of the table and that by itself was an evidence that they were not in top form when the team stepped onto the field against Real. Well, one would be wrong.

All that said, crediting Real’ shutout victory to nothing more than a weakened SF Vikings side would be a blunder. A drastic oversimplification. Because the truth is, although the Vikings brought back their top players to this game and signed brand new ones, while most would probably have picked the Red-Black-and-White to get three points on Sunday, the Tricolores did more than just win – they dominated.

Led by in-form captain Fabio Marques with two goals in the game, Real dictated the run of play at Polo Fields right from the opening whistle. They swarmed the SF Vikings, using quick, sharp passing to zip through holes in the midfield.

Real Sao Paulo decided to push forward right off the batt. In the first minute, Amine stole the defender's pass to their midfielder, carried it towards the box and tried a surprising shot, but the ball went wide off the far post. Four minutes later, SF Vikings goal kick. Matt cleared the ball but Truta could not find a good pass to Mauro and Player #4 stole the ball. He sent a good through ball to Player #3. Matt managed to cover in time sending the ball out of bounds and got fouled by him.

In the 7th minute, Amine recovered the ball and tried to send a through cross to Breno. SF Vikings goalkeeper managed to catch it and started a counter-attack. The through ball was perfectly sent behind Fabinho, but the forward did not have enough skills to put it in and it went wide off the far post. Three minutes later, SF Vikings almost scored again. Cris lost the ball in the midfield and the long ball found player #13. He back heeled to Player #8 who shot it very wide off the far post.

In the 15th minute, a through pass found player #3 again in the top of the arc. He opened the ball to the left wing who crossed inside the box and Marc corageously cleared it out. Cris recovered in the midfield and sent it to Breno who set it up to Mauro. He tried a shot from 40 yards out and almost hit the corner flag. SF Vikings kicked the goal kick quickly to the right back who sent to Player #3 in the midfield. He sent a perfect through cross behind the defense, but Matt, once again and as usual, cleared it right before the forward hit it to the goal. Two minutes later, Marc sent the ball opened wide in the left flank to Truta, he lost the ball but Fabinho brought it back again and played with Ricardo. He passed it to Cris who sent the ball to Breno. He gave it to Mauro first time who called a one-two with Humberto. As Mauro entered the box, he tried to consciously shoot it to the far post, but the ball went wide inches from the post.

In the 20th minute, Matt cleared out the ball with a prefect header pass to Breno. He took his time and passed with Amine. He called a one-two with Breno, dribbled the midfielder and switched the ball perfectly to Ricardo supporting the attack in the opposite left side. Ricardo tried the shot, but the goalkeeper saved. Two minutes later, throw-in for Real. Kenni sent it and got it back passing to Cris. He passed back to Fabinho who sent a through ball to Truta. He tried a shot, but it was too weak. The goalkeeper caught it and sent a long ball to the attack. Matt intercepted and gave it to Marcos David who tried his first shot with his new, purple cleat and the shot almost hit the corner flag, like Mauro's.

In the 27th minute, finally the first Real's goal. Marc started the play with Kenni in the right side. Kenni sent the ball to Fabio who had just stepped on the field substituting Mauro. Fabio controlled the ball and gave it to Marcos David who switched sides perfectly to Leandro. He set it up to Humberto in the top, left corner of the box. He stopped it, aimed it, and hit the top, far corner of the goal with no chances to the SF Vikings goalkeeper. Real 1-0.

In the 28th minute, Ricardo recovered the ball and gave it to Truta. He played with Marcos David in the center of the field. He sent the ball in the top of the arc to Fabio. He headed it down to Cris who lobbied it to the left side with Leandro. He tried to hit it first time, but missed it. He then managed to dribble the defender and shoot, but the ball went wide inches from the near post. Three minutes later, Kelson cleared the ball to Fabio in the midfield. He stopped it and saw Marcos David opened in the right side. He switched the ball all the way to him inside the box, but he waited for the bounce and lost the momentum.

In the 32nd minute, throw-in for Real. Kenni started with Matt who switched to Fabinho. He sent a long ball towards Fabio but got intercepted. Truta recovered it, tried an individual play dribbling a couple of players and shot, but the goalkeepre was well positioned and saved it easily. Two minutes later, corner kick for SF Vikings. Player #4 headed it perfectly towards the goal in the penalty mark, but Matt was well positioned and saved it over the line. After the rebound, Player #8 tried to head it inside the box, but Marc was paying attention and recovered it. He sent a long ball to the attack towards Fabio. He dribbled two players and sent a perfect ball to Leandro in the left wing. He carried it towards the end line and passed it back to Fabio in the top of the arc. He set it forward and tried to rip the crap out of the ball instead of just kicking it inside the goal. The ball went really high over the bar.

One minute later, Fabio decided to compensate for the ugly shot. Marcos David recovered the ball passing it first time to Fabio. He started a great combination with Leandro and after four touches back and forth, Leandro took it inside the box and got fouled by the goalkeeper. Penalty for Real. Fabio called it and scored the second goal for Real. Ball in one side, goalkeeper in the other. Real 2-0.

In the 41st minute, Kelson intercepted a shot and tried the pass to Marcos David in the center midfield. David lost it and Kelson recovered again trying to pass this time to Fabio open in the right wing. The ball got intercepted by the defender, but Fabio stole from him and started a breakthrough towards the box. He tried to dribble the last defender and got fouled inside the box, but the referee would not give this one to Real. Three minutes later, Fabinho tried to clear the ball and hit Kelson. He controlled the ball and opened with Truta. He passed quickly to Leandro in the left wing. He saw Fabio progressing in the opposite side with nobody marking him and switched a perfect cross. Fabio hit it first time with no bounce as he jumped up to hit it. The ball entered the lower, far corner with no chances for the goalkeeper. Real 3-0.

SF Vikings were focused on try to come back in the second half. In the 48th minute, in one of the most unbelievable plays seen so far in this league, SF Vikings left wing sent a perfect cross inside the box and Player #21, who had a yellow card already, tried to score the goal with both hands. The referee caught it and gave him his second yellow and ejected him. Two minutes later, SF Vikings Player #3 sent a through ball to Player #10 in the top of the arc and he tried a first time shot, but Marc was well positioned and saved. In the 52nd minute, Player #10 stole the ball from Ricardo and crossed, but Kenni cleared it out. Player #4 got the rebound, dribbled Omar and set it perfectly for Player #3 in the top of the arc, but the shot went wide off the far post and Marc only followed it with the eyes.

Two minutes later, free kick for Real. Kenni played with Marcos David who dribbled a couple of players and sent a through ball to Mauro in the right side of the box. Mauro dribbled the left back and crossed a perfect ball to Amine in the second post. He tried to hit it first time, but missed. The ball bounced in front of him and he sent a perfect shot in the lower, far corner. Real 4-0.

In the 58th minute, throw-in for Real. Omar sent it to Marcos David who carried it towards the left corner of the box and then passed to Amine in the top of the arc. Amine lost the ball but Humberto recovered. He dribbled the defender by pedalling the feet over the ball and started the play again with Cris. He sent it to Leandro who sent a through ball first time to Marcos David entering the box. He got fouled by the defender, but the referee did not call the penalty.

In the 65th minute, free kick for Real. Fabinho switched the ball to Kenni who tried to sent it forward but it did not. Fabinho tried to clear as well and it went backwards. Finally, Fabinho managed to keep the possession and sent it to Amine. He dribbled the first midfielder and sent a perfect pass to Mauro in the right side. He tried to shoot crossed, but it went wide off the far post. Five minutes later, Cris recovered the ball and played with Marcos David in the left wing. He passed first time to Humberto in the center midfield. Humberto sent a perfect ball to Fabio in the command. He stopped the ball and reopened the game with Marcos David in the left side. Marcos David had time to enter the box, choose the side and shoot. But it went inches wide off the far post.

In the 72nd minute, Humberto recovered the ball in the center midfield and started with Fabinho. He opened with Matt who tried Fabio. He laid it back to Humberto who started with Kelson this time. Kelson passed it to Cris who switched to Matt. From him to Ricardo and the perfect through ball to Fabio inside the box. He chipped it over the goalkeeper and tried to hit it hard again and missed the target. Three minutes later, Humberto started a great play with Ricardo in the right wing. He carried the ball past the midfield and, as he was entering the box, the midfielder stole the ball from him and started a counter-attack. Luckly, Kelson was well positioned and stole the ball back in the defense and started a great combination with Matt, Marcos David, Cris and then to Truta. He passed to Breno in the center and received back as he entered the box. He tried to shoot, but again, it failed.

In the 76th minute, Humberto gave Truta the ball in the right wing. He played with Fabio and received back as he entered the box. The shot, once again, was weak and he missed the target. Three minutes later, Cris intercepted the shot and started with Leandro. He gave the ball to Omar in the center midfield. He dribbled the player and sent it to Fabio who layed it with Truta in the top of the arc. Truta opened with Ricardo in the right wing. Ricardo saw Omar in the top of the arc by himself and gave him the ball. Omar tried a nice shot aimed at the top, far corner, but it hit the post and the defender cleared it. Way to go, Omar!

In the 83rd minute, Omar started a great play in the center midfield and passed to Cris. He opened to Leandro in the left wing. Leandro gave it back to Cris who sent it to Marcos David in the top of the arc. He laid it back to Omar who cracked it but missed the target by inches. Four minutes later, corner kick for Real. Leandro sent it back to Cris who tried to curve the ball inside the net, but it went inches over the bar.
Before the end of the game, Truta missed the easiest goal of the game, his third. Marc started the play with Fabinho who gave it to Leandro. He lobbied the ball over the whole defense for Truta. He tried to lobby it over the goalkeeper, but he caught it.

With the sixth win in seven games, Real took the isolated lead of the league with 18 points. Is that an indication of a possible championship for Real? This question is yet to be answered, but serve as temperament to those who may want to laud Real as the new favorites for the 2010 SFSFL title. Because while the Tricolores now four-game unbeaten streak is certainly another step in the right direction, there’s still a long way to go to September. Real will now play the toughest games of the season, starting with Melchester Rovers this Sunday at Crocker Amazon field at 12:45 PM.
