10-man, depleted Real reserve team pulls 1-1 tie with SFIAC current league leaders
SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- Carlos Silva (Carlinhos) scored his first goal of the season in a PK to earn the visiting 10-man Real Sao Paulo FC a 1-1 draw with SFIAC in front of SFSFL president, board members and a small crowd at Crocker Amazon #1 on Tuesday night. The tie tasted like a win for a team that could not count with four of its usual starters, suspended or injured.
This make-up game, which had already been postponed from the 10th round by SFIAC's request, was scheduled two days after the last game against SFIAC this past Sunday. Real Sao Paulo had three players ejected and one badly injured in the previous game and the reserve players had to step up to the challenge.
SFIAC scored first off a cross from the left side. Real tied the game in the second half after Fabio dribbled several SFIAC players and got fouled inside the box. He then called Carlos Silva up to take it and he scored his first goal wearing the tricolor shirt.
Matthew Gruber got ejected early in the first half. Real had several opportunities to win the game, but unfortunately the ball refused to go in.
With the tie, Real has no more chances of winning the league. Real will now play their last game of the season against SC Bosnajci this Sunday at Crocker Amazon at 10:45 AM.
