Real Sao Paulo settle for a 1-1 draw against Knights and remain on top three

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- Real Sao Paulo allowed a goal after halftime to give Knights F.C. a 1-1 draw at Crocker Amazon #3 on Sunday. Knights goal canceled out Leandro Monteiro's first-half opener to hand each side a point in a match filled with chances at both ends. The draw extended Real's unbeaten run to four games and put an end on Knights's six wins streak.

Knights F.C. side relied on a heavy dose of longballs to fuel their attack and very aggressive defensive play which culminated in an ejection for the Knights and three injured players for Real which had to be taken out of the field.

Real scored first with a great play by Fabio who stole the ball in the midfield and carried towards the top of the arc. When the three Knights defender came out to try to get the ball from him, he opened a perfect assist to Leandro in the left side of the box. He had time to set it aside and shot a low, strong ball at the left corner. Real 1-0.

Knights F.C. scored to tie the game at the 55th minute. Pitufo and Omar, who entered the game in the second half, lost possession a couple of times and allowed the left Knights winger to enter the box and shoot a low, crossed shot at the far corner. It was impossible for Mike. Real 1-1.

The game also had an ejection for Knight player and captain #20 who kicked Real's defender Matt on purpose and deliberately from behind. There was also a compensation ejection for Real player Amine Abalil who supposedely "tried to elbow" a Knights player when receiving a throw-in. Linesman called the main referee and asked him to eject Amine, although he himself did not see a hit and Knights player did not even complain about it.

The tie, although not ideal, kept the tricolores in the top 3 positions now tied with Knights F.C. and three points behind the current leaders. Real now plays against Mission Critical on July 10th. This is a critical round for the tricolores as Martin Macks plays SF City FC and Knights FC plays Melchester Rovers. The tricolores intend to pick another win next Sunday and keep challenging for the lead of the table.
